I think the point of networking is to talk to as many people as possible so you create a "buzz" among them. If there's a buzz about you, they are more likely to reach a consensus and give you an interview. Of course, the buzz has to be positive - you don't want to be that kid who sent e-mails every week about random things.
That being said, having an influential analyst or associate pulling for you definitely doesn't hurt.
If the analyst is really good or influential as the guy above me said, then it's possible. I've seen summer interns get people interviews, so I can only assume it would be likely as an analyst.

analysts are the ones who going through resumes so yes they can get you an interview. it may depend on the firm.
