Career Advice: S&T vs Consulting

I'm currently an S&T summer analyst at a BB. Return offers aren't guaranteed, but I am trying to figure out what I'll do if I get one. I'm not sure I want do do S&T mainly because of the lack of flexibility to do something else 2-3 years in. I'm not sure if this is any different for doing a research role in s&t vs a traditional sales or trading seat (I think I would be interested in research if I went back full time). However, I have always also been interested in consulting. MBB firms recruit heavily at my school and I have been starting to prep for case interviews and networking. Thoughts on S&T vs consulting as a career and exit ops for s&t would be appreciated. Also wondering if accepting an s&t offer, recruiting for consulting, and reneging the s&t offer if I get a consulting offer would be a bad idea. Thanks for any input!
