I currently work at a marketing company (focus on analytics) and I'd like to make a switch to either management consulting or PE. which PE shops value a CFA® and how to PE firms feel about them? Would you recommend i study for it anyway, if atleast to manage my own savings?

CFA can be valued in PE as it's more relevant to buy side decisions than investment banking experience. However, you're probably going to be deficient in the technical skills required to make the jump to PE from where you are.
Probably a good idea to focus on boutique and mid-market private equity shops as they don't hire from the standard avenues that the big ones do.
