chances of MBB

I’m a junior about to start my “internship” or virtual program at a tier 2 consulting firm(ATK, OW, ACN strat, EY-Parthenon, Deloitte S&O) and trying to recruit full time for MBB.

Here are my stats: School: Non target Private ( Brandies, Pepperdine, Villanova, Northeastern, Lehigh) Major: Econ/Finance GPA: mid to low 3’s Past internship: F500/F1000 URM? No but first gen if that counts

I know my chances are slim to none but I was wondering what I can do to at least land first round at either one of those. would really appreciate any advice from you guys.

Your chances are slim but maybe networking could help. Good luck in the process tho!

Do you think I should target specific firm or people to network with? We don’t have many alums from my school at either of those and I am hesitant to randomly message people on LinkedIn.

Your GPA is bad, but you could get over that with a referral from a partner. Work experience is excellent (especially if it isn't ACN strat, that's the odd one out from the list especially with the re-org)

Unfortunately, timing really isn't in your favor right now. FT recruitment might be very competitive next year given (1) almost all interns will be getting and accepting return offers, slightly more than normal (2) if the economy is still in rough shape, there may be fewer FT slots and (3) if the economy is still in rough shape, there will be more competition for pretty much all jobs as there are fewer available

Assuming you get an offer this summer, I would take it and (1) be extremely proud & grateful of how great of a job you got out of undergrad, seriously and (2) enjoy not having to deal with what is likely going to be a very hectic FT recruitment cycle
