Chances of outlier no offer

Hey guys.

Been a couple demoralizing months. For background come from a top target 4.0 GPA internships in PE/VC/HF deep involvement on campus HF..etc. Been seeing all my buddies get top HFs/MF summer SAs and then those that didn't get buyside go to top EBs (handful went to PJT RX then EVR) / GS/MS early (the firm reached out first to some of them.)

Both friends/network can't seem to tell me what I'm doing wrong but can't seem to land first rounds even (had 4/15ish). Hoping to land a mid-tier BB / one of the later recruiting BBs

For reference an international student. Anyone know what might be going wrong? Is there solace? Will I be fine?

Not seeking self pity but genuinely worried about chance of no offer also b/c I can't intern at any boutique (no sponsorship). Whats a good game plan for if I come out with no offer?

You mentioned it man. It’s the fact that you are an international student. I am one too and I struggled going through SA21 recruiting. There’s fewer and fewer banks each year that sponsor. I would concentrate on banks that are yet to recruit that sponsor. CS,DB,GS, BofA and Jefferies come to mind. Try finding as high alums as you can who are willing to speak with you and then network network network. It’s tough out there man so best of luck.

being international sucks, you are for sure a very good candidate and you still have a lot of good places that have not recruited yet. Keep it up and you will be able to get a top role. the only advice I have for you is don't tell them you are international until you have to
