Check in/ follow up

Hey,

I met with a contact before my super day and he said to email him that night with the people I met and he would do some research and get back to me on my general status. That was Friday night and he still hasn't gotten back to me. Understand that this guy is busy, but should I follow up with an email/call to see if he has an update for me? Or should I just wait to hear from HR on whether I got the job or not. Obviously don't want to annoy this guy, but I'm anxious to hear what he has to say.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I wouldn't call him considering, as you said, he said to follow up via email. Friday night is a wash for a day, as is Saturday and Sunday - start the timer on Monday and since it's only Wednesday give him some time to 1) find something out and 2) get some time to craft a response email. Be patient - HR will give you an answer either way, so it's not like you're getting no response if your contact doesn't respond. That said, I would probably reach back out next Monday or Tuesday - not necessarily to get a response, but just to touch base, thank the person again and get his opinion. Keep it short and sweet - good luck.
