Citi: Finance - M&A?
http://www.oncampus.citi.com/business_areas/north…
It is in their corporate functions group (not ICG), but the description sounds very similar to IB M&A.
Does anyone have any insight on this position?

It sounds like an MO role to me. I could be completely wrong, but it sounds like it's M&A for Citi.. as in you would be pitching acquisition ideas to Citi which would be very different from M&A in IBD--where you would be pitching to Citi's clients. If so, I imagine dealflow is down.
This is like any finance / accounting / treasury / business development role at any other company. Just so happens that Citi is also an enormous financial institution. This is not anything even approaching similarity to IBD.
it's corp dev for citi. a friend of mine works there after 2 years IBD at citi and got destroyed by the hours (circa 2008, Wachovia deal time frame)
Do you think it's a good place to be for someone who wants to get into IB M&A full time?
Why not start with IBD if thats what you want. I don't think corporate function has any relations with Citi's clients (which are more valuable IMO) Its the same job as working for Apple's finance department I believe..which is still not bad and you can make it to the CFO :)
Couldn't get one. I am a junior and I have a summer offer to work with Citi Finance - M&A, thats why I was asking.
for that group specifically, they take IBD analysts with 2 or more years of experience, so IBD is a prerequisite, not post.
no.
