Citi told me i've progressed to next stage - 1 Month later no communication

To keep it short and simple. It is what it says in the title.

I got an email from Citi after applying to their SA EMEA Corporate Banking Internships, and received an email stating that a recruiter will be in touch with me on next steps.

I assumed that this will be about the telephone interview as this is typically the next stage for a Citi application. The only thing is, this was sent to me 1 Month ago and I have not heard from anyone at all.

When I check workday it says that my application status is "Recruiting Review" and from what I know there is no way to contact Citi UK to get an answer.

I wanted to know
A. Is anyone in the same boat or, if you have applied to the same position, have you gone through the next stages already
B. Is there a way I can contact them and how would I?

any advice is much appreciated

Citi takes a long time to process applications.

When I was going through the process, I applied in September and didn't have my First Round until December.

I applied to Citi for their GLobal Spread Products Financing and Securitization program in September but I still have not heard back, does that mean they finished hiring or what? I am not sure about communication with this bank, but I would appreciate any insight since I think I have a good background in Spread Products

Still relatively early I think. I would imagine they'd roll them out over the semester, although I think first AC may be out after first TIs but again I'd imagine they'll do quite a few. Also heard that a lot of the first TIs were for people who didn't convert the spring, apparently they guarantee TIs for them

Citi are renowned for this bullshit in their early careers recruitment.

If it’s been that long then look for other jobs and keep working to improve on interviews. I’ve had a couple of offers come around after 3-4 weeks but best to find other roles

Got this too; think others are still stuck on "recruiting review". I heard they were also experiencing technical issues with candidate portal (which checks out, as I had to submit the same form twice in order for my application to actually get through the system). For reference, I applied for Capital Markets, not IBD, so maybe a different timeline.

Unless you have relevant experience, I would start looking elsewhere. Capital Markets is one of those roles that fills almost the entire intern class from Spring Weeks, and of those who come from the SA application, they almost always have banking/CM or some other front office experience from another bank. It didn't use to be like this, but the market is very bad right now and the amount of spaces on the CM programme that aren't SW converts is very low...

I guess they will take something like 10 interns there this year, most will be SW, so just like 3 or so spaces for those applying through the SA route.

Thought this might be the case. Felt it was worth applying to however, as have relevant experience with a hedge fund that is v well regarded by ECM teams at banks, and ECM is what I’m by far the most interested in. But this might explain why I’ve had lower interest from banks capital markets programmes than expected, although I did think that there’s probably never been a worse time to try and get into an ECM team than now haha. Thank you for the context.
