Class Rank

Hello all,

I am a finance major at a target and will be ranking within the top 3%-5% in the program (not sure exactly where for this year, just basing on previous year cut offs).

I am wondering, from a recruiters perspective, is this "good enough" for top firms (MBB, JP, Goldman, etc) in finance and management consulting? I just always was under the impression they wanted the top (top 1% for instance).

And suppose I rank in the top 5% and not the top 3%, is that a big deal? Do employers consider that 2% a huge difference, or are they aware that the difference is likely 0.1-0.2 on the 4.0 GPA scale?

Thoughts?
