Cold Email Tip - Reach Out Earlier!

I wanted to post this as a PSA since this point is super clear to me now but it was not as clear to me back when I was a student going through the recruiting frenzy. Generally people are happy to hop on the phone for an informational call, but realize that if you only start reaching out after you see a job posting on your career site, odds are that 10+ students are also reaching out each day since they saw the job posting (I do not have 5 hours a day to schedule phone chats...). Reach out BEFORE the job posting hits, trying to hop on the phone and continue to build a relationship, send an interesting article or ask for advice on certain topics from time to time to keep your name top of mind for when you do apply to the posting and reach out again...
