Cold-emailing Senior Bankers and Global Heads

Is it okay to send emails to alums who are very senior bankers within their firms? I'm talking Global Heads, Senior MDs, etc. Would I come off as retarded? If so, what could be the worst that happens? Is that risk to great to overcome a potentially very helpful connection? (If that would even be the case).

Thanks in advance

No one is gonna black list you for emailing them, assuming you’re not weird/psycho in the email. I think it would be perceived well more times than not. But don’t expect to have a good response rate unless you were referred by others. If so, include that you were referred in the email title “Informational Chat | Referred by xxx”

He came to visit Dartmouth once during Homecoming, recognized him and he bought my friends and I a beer at Murphys
