Cold / Warm Outreach

What is the protocol / etiquette for outreach during a job search?

For a bit of background, I interviewed at a BB firm for PWM a year and a half ago, met with a few people and got to the final stage interview but did not secure the job offer. There is now an opening on the team where I have lots of relevant experience and was wondering whether emailing one of the EDs who I interviewed with was worth a shot? The role has a focus on business development so my thinking is that they would appreciate me reaching out directly to register my interest
