Commodities Research
I'm trying to break into Commodities (particularly crude oil) research. I know that several BBs have quite good research teams in this space.
I have a somewhat unconventional background. I have an undergrad degree in economics from a semi-target school. I now work in economic consulting for a top firm in that space that does a lot of deal work in the energy industry. I'm also on the CFA track and am currently prepping for the GMAT. My firm places very well at top Bschools, which I think is my next best step. What's the best way to market myself to these teams? Unlike ER, it doesn't seem like people are recruited onto a commodity team right out of grad school, but that's just my impression from snooping around on LinkedIn and the BB summer associate pages.
If bschool isn't my best bet, what is?
