Corp Dev vs Corporate Banking

Have two offers post IB stint, pay is similar for both.

Corp dev at a small bank in NYC vs Corp Banking at a LMM firm in Charlotte.

Which would give me the most optionally, and where I could learn the most?

This is simple to me. Do you like sales and client advisory? Corporate Banking. Do you like financial modeling, due diligence, and the idea of focusing on growing one company? Corporate Development.

The key is to know yourself, I see too many people make the mistake of choosing a career path based on negligible comp differences. instead, focus on where your skillsets and interests align.

For what it's worth, comp upside will be higher in Corp Banking if you make it to a revenue generating position and are successful. You can do well in either one though, so again, focus on what you're good at. You don't make real money until you're at a senior level in either. Choose the path with the greatest probability of long-term success based on your talents. Exit ops are overrated, you'll be fine either way.
