Corporate Banking Summer Analyst --> IB ?
Would this be a possible move? Going to be a corporate banking group summer analyst at a bulge bracket (not sure exactly what group) but if I don't like it then I was thinking I might want to shoot for IB full time. Is this doable?
possible but uphill battle since most FT hires have prior IB SA experience.. its usually filled with kids who interned at a diff bank and didnt get a return offer or chose not to pursue a FT role with that bank for whatever reasons (e.g PJT VP)
This isn't really true. Banks take many laterals from other FO divisions (DCM, ECM, S&T, CB, etc.) whether its internal or external. Who shows more promise? A kid from another FO division who got a return offer or a kid who was in the bottom ~20% of his summer analyst class and didn't even get invited back?
Agreed. That said you likely have to grind still.
