Corporate FP&A vs. BB Operations

Offered a FP&A Analyst role in F500 IT Services and Operations Analyst at BB. Which serves my career goals best? Please be brutally honest

Interests: BB IBanking, strategy consulting or corporate strategy

Positions: FP&A role is heavily analytical and job posting required 3-4 years experience. Organization is going through changes driven by FP&A to standardize reporting and improve sales performance. If successful, I see this as an excellent opportunity to become a 'change leader' and offers a lot of interview value down the road. Lots of exposure to C-Suite and VP’s in every division. Salary is 55-65k and interviewer specifically said it would take 3-4 years to advance to senior. Starts immediately (before graduating)

Operations Analyst role is run of the mill back office. Mostly processing and process improvement duties. Has much better corporate culture and brand name recognition. Would require moving to a non-target market. Opportunities for mobility strongly depend on BU you’re placed in. Salary is 45K+bonus, 3.5 years to associate, starts after graduation

Personal Background: junior undergraduate, 6 internships, accounting major w/ 3.0 GPA. Plan on sitting for CFA soon after graduating.

I'd shoot myself if I was MO. Be careful considering a role just for the name sake if you plan on being there longer than a year.

I'm in MO now and completely agree: it is the bane of my existence.

Take the FP&A gig and don't look back.
