d1 golf?

Hello fellow golfers and all. Im here to ask a question. If I play d1, 2 or 3 in college would it help in IB? Since I got an offer but in confused because I will be busy with golf when I could put that extra time in building up my GPA and studying. Should I play or no? Will jobs understand this in IB? Does it look good?

Any sport played on a D1 level will be looked upon well by employers as it demonstrates that you are able to juggle a large time commitment while still maintaining a high GPA. Its a big sport agnostic with a preference towards team sports, but if you think that your GPA will suffer tremendously it might be harder to argue. Overall if you can do it, I definitely go for it.

With an individual sport I would say that it if you achieve heights in D3 it could carry a bit of weight. Overall though,I would say that a lot of it is also going to be adding your experience into your story and creating a compelling reason why they should hire you.

I played a D3 sport & love seeing candidates with athletics backgrounds. Aside from showing you can maintain school + athletics time commitment, it also shows that you can work in a team environment. I also enjoy sitting next to someone who might have watched the weekend games. I’ve also generally found athletes to be sociable & imo easy to talk to

Just curious if a candidate played sports in high school or community college should that not be weighted the same as someone who played college sports ?

I do not necessarily weigh them the same. Any college athlete knows the pure time commitment in college vs high school is drastic. Community college I guess it depends on the story. If you went to JUCO for 2 years trying to transfer to play D1 football bc it’s your dream I get it, though I may question your decision making if you ultimately end up at NYU.

In a job where image and likeness are looked upon so heavily the idea of being recruited for college sports speaks to a degree about the person themselves and their overall desirability
