DACH - German required?

How necessary is a good level of german in these countries? Let’s say for IBD,PE,HF.

Does graduation from a DACH school with little German is sufficient? What are the work culture/habits like?

If you graduated from a school in D/A/CH your German must be pretty fluent? Or are you intl. and did a STEM degree (in English)?

I would say the cultural, social, linguistic elements are very different if you are from outside of the EU, they are understandable but still difficult if you are from within the EU. If you are a beginner in German, with no real German language interaction (ie German friends, German girlfriend, ..) and didn't study in German - the assumption is that your language skills aren't good enough for complex IBD/PE/HF work. Quant work might be ok though? Depends on coverage and area.

Some BBs hire people with limited German skills in Frankfurt, also met people on secondments from London.

Are you willing to improve your German, you must have some skills already? keep working on it and you will improve!
