Damned if I do??

After my final round interviews for a FT position at a BB, I was told to update HR if my candidacy with the firm changes. I've been living in NYC on my savings while I'm doing an unpaid internship, and now must move home to Asia because I've burned all my money up. I can continue to wait for their decision at home, but should I tell HR about my situation? I'm assuming they only care if I receive exploding offers from other firms, which I didn't. Would telling HR that I can't wait much longer just encourage them to reject me sooner?
