Deciding between Summer Opportunities

Hello all,

I'm a sophomore in college interested in working for an economic or financial services consulting firm (NERA, Oliver Wyman, Analysis Group, Cornerstone, etc).

I am trying to figure out what I should do this summer given this end goal. Currently, I have an offer for a business analyst internship at a top software company. I will also be able to get a research position at either a top economic institute or a top business school (top 3).

I know this information is vague, but which opportunity would be more impressive or prepare me best for an internship with one of the previously mentioned firms next summer? Though not economics/finance related, would business analysis experience at a well-known software firm be desired? Or would performing economic/business research at a prestigious institution be more desirable?

Thank you!
