Delaying Graduation for Recruiting

Hey guys,

I'm currently a undergrad junior who didn't receive any offers for IB SA roles this recruiting season. I got interviews at many top places but just couldn't convert to an offer. I have been thinking about delaying my graduation by one year to try to reapply for SA positions. To delay my graduation date, I'm planning to just take a gap year (not taking any classes for a year). Would this be looked down upon by firms when applying for 2022 SA roles? Also, would I have a lower chance for firms that I interviewed with for this recruiting cycle since it's possible that they remember me applying/interview the previous cycle?

Thanks!

This is exactly what I did for IB SA 2021 and received a top EB offer. (Formerly class of 21, now class of 22 - took no classes this year but had a fall IB internship at a no name boutique and am doing a PE internship starting this month-when SA starts at another no name shop).

I had my story in line to explain why I would be taking a gap year should I receive an offer but it honestly never came up in any interview (interviewed at all top BB/EBs with multiple super days). If anything I probably came across a little more polished with an extra year of college under my belt. I told HR my situation when I signed my offer and they were completely cool with it - don’t think the banks care as long as you graduate at the right time.
