DeSilva+Phillips: NY Boutique

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has heard of DeSilva & Phillips Media Bankers.D&P is a boutique investment bank in New York City that primarily deals within the media technology and publishing industry. A friend I know is interning there this summer and i was just curious to hear what people know or have to say about the company.

Here is the link to the company's website: http://www.mediabankers.com/

never worked with them. seems pretty solid, albeit very nichey - looking at the deals the client or buyers are media companies, some of them well-known (NYTimes, penton).

my guess is it's a good place for a soph to get IBD experience before junior year, but seeing as they are very small and work on $50 million deals within a HUGE universe of buyers you'll be doing a significant amount of time (up to 70%) doing manual database work updating client names, addresses etc. as an intern in addition to just working on live deals or even pitches.

I have heard of DeSilva+Phillips but i don't know much about them. I'd be curious to hear what people have to say about them as my friend may be interning there this summer.

Thanks firefighter for the advice. Seems like a decent internship for a sophomore as you mentioned. Although it may not be well known, working in NYC will provide ample opportunities for networking.
