Did I Fail my Background Check?

I recently got a verbal offer from Point72 for their L/S academy. They did a background check on me through HireRight. I saw the report and it appears I passed with flying colors. It's been more than 2 weeks since I received the verbal offer and when I was originally on the phone with the recruiter, they said they would send the offer letter within a week (which was supposed to be two weeks ago). I followed up with the recruiter middle of last week and she didn't respond.

Sorry for the confusing dates but I wanted to ask for advice. I got both a verbal offer and an email confirming my verbal offer (included background check details) but no offer letter yet, approaching 3 weeks since my call. Did I get finessed? What should I do? Has anybody ever heard of someone not getting an offer letter after a verbal offer (even if they passed the background check)? What is the longest you have heard someone waiting for their letter?

Have you followed up with the hiring manager/person that extended the offer?

Is your relationship 'open' or strong enough with the recruiter to just pick up the phone and call them? In this case, you reaffirm your interest and that you are--have been--ready to commit and want more clarity on next steps/timeline or if they need additional information from you. Don't forget to thank the recruiter

It's legal? I passed everything according to HireRight (the organization Point72 paid to perform the background check). I know this because I have access to the background check and saw confirmation of every past employer/criminal history etc.

I don't see why I would not have gotten the offer after getting it verbally so I'll probably just reach out again. Hopefully just HR being lazy as you said

Hi! Was this an offer for the full time academy starting in 2023? Have you heard anything since? Are you in school right now or in IB?
