Did I not get the job?
So I was put on hold after a superday last week. Yesterday I found out that the person they made an offer to rejected the offer. So I followed up with the firm to see what their timeline is like, and they said that they'll be making final decisions today (yesterday). Since it is now today and I haven't heard from yet, does it mean that I didn't get the job?
Nope.
Nope I didn't get the job? Are they at least going to call and tell me that?

Maybe, some firms don't bother, highly unprofessional, but par for the course.
Clearly not a good sign that you haven't heard anything. But decision making committees miss deadlines all the time and it can be difficult to wrangle all the right people together to re-make a decision if someone rejected an offer.
They'll likely reach out to their #2 choice within a day, but #2 may have an offer elsewhere or need time to decide. If you aren't #2, it can still end in your favor but they aren't going to call you back to say they made someone else an offer and now need to wait back to get their answer.
You should prepare for the worst (or no response) and hope for the best.
Thanks for the hope. Is there anything I can do now to improve my chances?
It's now past the day that they said they would get back to me by...should I follow up again? I think they would tell me if the spot has already been filled..
I think you already know this, but in denial. You should move on. You know that they would have contacted you already. Sorry man.
It doesn't matter if you did or didn't get the job, you shouldn't have all your egg's in one basket. Keep it movin
