Do FP&A job titles matter?

Hi everyone,

I've received an offer for a Sr. Corporate Financial Analyst at a 10 year tech old start up in San Francisco. This position would be the first FP&A person in the organization reporting directly to the CFO and it seem to be a very substantive and broad role. I feel excited and comfortable with the role but the title seem a little low given other positions out there. The qualifications for the job are similar to many manager and director level positions (requesting 10+ years of experience). The salary is the 150k range with some equity and bonus. I have seen other FP&A positions with Director titles range from 160-175K base salary. Should I be concerned about the title. or should I just take the offer? Try to negotiate a better title and if so, how would you recommend doing so?

A little bit about myself: Went through a financial management rotation program out of college for 3 years, Got a top 10 MBA, Was a management consultant at Big 4 firms for 4 years, and currently do independent FP&A consulting for another. Last role was a Divisional controller for a tech company

Other potential useful information: The CFO and Controller think that an IPO is 3 or 4 years away. They were recapitalized from a 1.4 Billion dollar company to a $150 Million. They are cleaning up a bunch of stuff on the accounting sides. The CFO told me to think about it as a Series B restarted start up.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and advise
