Do I have a right to be annoyed?
So in early Jan I interviewed for an internship position and the company/firm said I would be reimbursed for flight + hotel etc. The bill was more than normal since I stayed 1 night + flight in NY. About 3 weeks later I emailed them the form for my reimbursement (early Feb).
Now, it's MAY and I still HAVE NOT received my refund (so, it's been 4 months). I'm not sure what to do, since every two weeks - one month I have been sending emails/making calls to HR (who directed me to some other person, so I've been contacting her as well). Whenever I email asking where the refund is, it takes DAYS for a reply where she says she has to ask the accounting department, but then THAT would take days, so pretty much it takes 1-2 weeks for them to let me know if Account Payable is on it. You see how this is dragging on. In addition, after my initial phone calls, the person I was directed to didn't take my calls anymore. Every time I get really frustrated I get apology emails and saying the reimbursement would arrive within 1 week. Anyways, so this has been going on for a few months and it's still not here. I'm honestly really fed up at how unprofessional and ridiculous the whole situation is.
Anyone know what to do?

Hehe, had this problem once, altough not for this long. Anyway, they ended up with reimbursing me twice. Oh, well...:)
Still waiting for a refund from JPM since November ... emailed them 3 times now to follow up on it.

Is it a big firm? Did you get the internship?
If you didn't get the internship and its a smaller firm then who gives a shit, just bust some balls. Call up the most senior person you interviewed with and tell him you're hesitant to mention it to him, but you can't seem to get anyone else to give you a straight explanation or even a timely response. Explain the situation, tell him you're a college student and have other financial obligations and you budgeted around being reimbursed in a timely fashion. Tell him who you've been dealing with and the fact that they've been unable to give you an explanation as to why it takes 4 months to reimburse a college student for his out of pocket expenses.
Good advice, I was planning to do this, just didn't know if that was a little too aggressive. I ended up accepting an offer elsewhere, but still don't want to be rude/create drama.
I would just threaten to fire bomb the entire shop if they dont wire you the money by 5:00 PM on Friday. I think this would show your conviction and willingness to take chances. They will probably hire you on the spot.
I am waiting on a reimbursement from February as well. Luckily I did not accept this offer so I have no problem getting a little aggressive in the near future if need be. Funny how many of them require us to submit these forms within 2-3 weeks and it takes them at least that many months to cut the check.
UBS paid for everything in advance, it was pretty nice, no worry about getting paid back.
So that's one good thing they've done in the past 2 years.....
Had this problem with GS. They wanted the form "first thing in the morning" and because mine was "15 minutes late" it took them 2+ months for my reimbursement check to arrive.
JPM, BarCap, and HLHZ all handled the money themselves.
The reimbursement check is likely in the mail ---- months away. Stop calling and just know there is nothing you can do if it never arrives.
