Do i still have a chance for a career in Corporate Finance
Hi guys, I am 25 this year with economics & finance degree in semi target uni in the UK. Having failed to find a job, i decided to take a master and looked into other profession, so i have done a master in law also in a semi- target. Since graduating in 2012, i decided that law is not right for me, so i returned to finance instead.
I have applied to almost all Tier1,2 IB and even Big4 corporate finance grad positions without any success. But fortunately, i did find an offer in the treasury function of a leading UK retail financial institution ( think building society) which i have started 4 months ago. Its a position in risk and gives me exposure to some modelling review, fixed income, and rating agency work. I am aware IBs categorize treasury roles into investment banking activities.
Other information:
I am studying CFA Level 1
Internship - Asset Management Consultancy
Commercial Banking officer - Tier 1 Bank
1) My question is with the sort of background I have got, will i have any chance ever to break into investment banking or corporate finance? As this has been my main area of interest. Shall I make another attempt to grad programs? Will i be too old for it?
2) Do BBs consider relevant experience from a small financial institution?
