Does being ignored by HR = rejection?

Recently, I had an interview for an associate front-office application developer position at JP Morgan. I passed the phone screening then did a 3 hour technical interview last week. I called HR and asked them for the interviewers' email addresses so I can send thank you notes to them. HR called me back immediately and told me they can forward the notes on my behalf. I didn't hear back after that, so this Monday I called HR and asked if the team had filled the position. So far all I've gotten is deep space radio silence.

Does this mean I have been rejected? This position is for an experienced hire, so I don't know if they treat you differently from a new grad.

I'd email this Monday (wait til later in the day when they've cleared their inbox) and ask about the status of the search and when you can expect to hear from them about a final decision. Short, sweet and completely professional-nothing big. I don't know about JPM personally, and maybe they normally act very quickly, but a week or two isn't a long time.

And in my opinion it's not desperate on your part to follow up (within reason-don't call/email daily, but after a week and since they didn't respond at all, after another week is ok in my book), it's unprofessional on their part for not responding with at least an email saying they're still deciding (they're HR recruiters, it's their job to manage this) and extremely rude if you never hear back. Not hearing back because you submitted a resume online is normal. Not hearing back after you did a phone interview and a 3 hour technical interview is a very poor showing on their part. It's not like they have to take you out to lunch and dump you. All they have to do is send their template rejection email.

Yes, I emailed HR on 6/29 (the 2nd round interview was on 6/15). I did receive a reply back last Friday (7/3) and they said "I have forwarded your request for an update to the recruiter. Someone should reach out to you within a week or so. Thank you!"

Is there still any possibility of advancing to the next round at this point or has it been too long and they will just be sending out a rejection? This is with JP Morgan.
