Doostang Selected Practice Groups

Hey, I want to join the Investment Banking & Capital Markets Selected Practice Group on Doostang, however my request has been rejected. Does anyone know why that would be so? I have been accepted in other related selected practice groups, but for some reason this one (ironically, the one I'm most interested in) has not accepted my request. Any ideas?

Thanks.

No, i haven't been able to get into the PE group either. But I have gotten into the WM and Hedge fund groups. I don't think that's fair to screen for groups like that. I have a more technical background but I wish to enter a finance field after grad - how can they judge what I want to do with my career? I've submitted subsequent requests trying to detail my interest in finance, but it keeps getting rejected. Do you know of any way around this??? Thanks.

There's no way around it. The Selected Practice Groups aren't designed for the doostang user, so much as they are designed for the doostang recruiter. They filter you out based on your school and what companies you've worked for. So a HYPSW grad or someone who's worked at a BB will be able to get into any group even if it's completely unrelated to their work experience, while someone who's previously worked in Finance or interested in it but doesnt have "the name" on their resume would have a harder time.
