ECM Investment Banking Interview - help needed!
Hello guys,
I have an interview with a BB for an ECM summer internship next week and since this is my first interview of this kind and since I come from a non-finance background, I was wondering if you could please help me.
- I can only use online resources (no access to any books rn and cannot order anything either): What would you recommend? -My knowledge on IB and ECM is quite limited: What are the basics that I definitely need to know about and what ECM topics do I need to revise?

P.S.: Please don’t think I’m a total idiot, it’s just that I only interned with PE firms and asset management firms before :-(
Learn about the different products: ABBs, Rights Issues, IPOs, converts & why they’re used. It won’t be too technical but make sure you know the general IBD technicals. Follow the market & have opinions on the direction different sectors & asset classes will move.
thanks mate. really appreciate your help. what do you mean by general IBD technicals? just valuation approaches, basic accounting, DCF and EV?
Accounting, DCF, etc. Most of the time it won’t come up but sometimes they do. Would say it’s more important to understand the markets and the IPO process
Had a CM interview and can say it was not technical at all. There’s no valuation or modeling like classic IB so I was only really asked about the markets and IPO process. I think questions about equity products (converts, derivatives, etc) would be highly unlikely based on my experiences
