Email to HR?

Hello folks, and happy Thanksgiving. Quick question about a situation. I am hoping to study abroad next semester. The program allows time for an unpaid internship to be completed. I am currently looking for places to intern at. Recently, a family friend gave my CV to a friend, who passed it on to HR at a BB (Merrill, UBS, DB). I got an email from my famiily friend, saying, "your resume has been passed to _____ and his email is ____"

I gave the email to my program coordinator, and they will contact him in a week or so about possible internships. My question is, should I personally contact the HR guy to let him know the program will be contacting him soon, etc?

Thanks.
