Existential dillema (FRESHMAN)

Whats up monkeys. Im a freshman at a decent school(non target/top2 in country) in one of the poorest countries in EU. (3.0 GPA probably about to decrease)

My goal is to make it into IB/MBB(theres MBB here) and then come back to my country, however, opportunities here, early or mid career, arent nearly as good as London/NY. Am I allocating my resources intelligently?

If there arent good exits to my country, should I even put academic/internship effort in? Or should I try and spend my time learning how to grow a business or learning how to invest/trade? I want to live in my country of origin and raise a family here. I dont want to be another divorced MD in London.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I love that you're looking for advice, because I also found myself in a similar situation as yours, when I was younger I was ambitious but didn't want to run away from my home country and just like you said become another "Divorced MD in London".

I would advice you to develop your bussines skills if you really want that financial freedom, you can do that by taking courses or internships.

Starting a bussines is great, but if you REALLY want to make it into IB/MBB then start networking like your life depends on it. Connect with alumni from your school and professionals in your home country who work in IB/MBB.
Look for IB/MBB roles in your home country, even if they might not offer the same compensation as international firms, you get the experience you need.
And lastly you might consider working remote with international firms, allowing you to live in your home country while working for a global company.

Personally I chose to work for an international company in my home country, which was THE BEST decision I made in my life, gave me so much freedom.

Hope everything goes well to you my guy!

Thanks a lot! I hadn’t considered that option! I thought that usually the only well paid role in the world where you could do that was programming. Can I DM you to learn some more?

Depends, if you catch me online on here, I'm usually a little bussier sometimes so I can't check in around WSO, as much as I'd like to, but you cna try and shoot me a DM and we'll se what goes and what you might need more info on
