f500 Corporate Finance to Mgmt Consulting

I am in my first year at a highly regarded corp finance program at a f50 company. Was wondering if anybody could shed light on the transition process between corp fin to mgmt consulting at mbb or big 4. How difficult is it, and what can I do to increase my chances? Advice I've read from other posts was to apply to top MBA programs and pivot to consulting post MBA, but I was curious about making the switch before. 

Not sure if this matters to consulting recruiters post graduation but I went to a target school and have a great gpa.
