Finance / Real Estate 2026 grad pursuing Chicago

Looking for best 2026 entry level programs in Chicago, rising senior right now. Applied to Wells/ JPMC rotations so far. Seeing that Eastdil Secured and Hines IM opens apps on Sep 1.

Worked 1 finance internship at large insurance company, and 1 investment internship at small private equity development shop underwriting deals.

Are most programs UW grad heavy?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Chicago's real estate and finance entry-level programs often attract talent from a mix of schools, but the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) has a particularly strong presence in the real estate space. UW-Madison's real estate alumni network is described as "big, powerful, and present everywhere," with a historical reputation as a pioneer in real estate as an academic discipline. This network can be influential in programs like Eastdil Secured and Hines IM, especially given their focus on real estate finance and investment.

For your situation as a 2026 grad with relevant internships in finance and private equity development, you're on the right track by targeting rotational programs at Wells Fargo and J.P. Morgan Chase, as well as keeping an eye on Eastdil Secured and Hines IM applications opening on September 1. These programs are highly competitive, so leveraging your underwriting experience and showcasing your ability to analyze deals will be key.

If you're concerned about UW grads dominating these programs, don't let that deter you. While UW has a strong presence, firms value diverse backgrounds and experiences. Your internships and demonstrated interest in real estate finance will help you stand out. Additionally, consider networking with alumni from your school or professionals in Chicago's real estate and finance sectors to strengthen your application.
