First Round Rejections
If I keep getting rejected at the first round stage, does this mean my interview skills are straight shit?

Ask your interviewers for feedback if you can. Or your network at the firm to see if they can dig it up.
Immensely valuable to understand your standing and how potential employers viewed you.
Is it common for people to respond? Usually get a generic response?
Some interviewers will, some won't. If you've networked and built a relationship there, can ask that individual to dig around for you.
I'll usually try and give detailed feedback to candidates that were really good. The forgettable ones not so much. Only 24 hours in a day!
I would also say, if you arent making it past the first round, one of the key interview skills are lacking. In interviews there are main parts to consider: the intro, the behavioral questions, the technical questions, why x place, and lastly the questions at the end. If you arent making it past first rounds, one of these things are lacking. Now idk ur situation but im sure u can figure out which one it is. Now one u identify said issue, find ways to fix it, thru mock interviews brainstorming etc. if you dont know what it is do mocks interviews with friends or ur career center and find that out. After you resolve these issues you should see a decline in rejections. Hope this helps!
