Foreigner asking for advice sincerely
I am a foreigner and currently a MS in finance student. Non-target school but I have a 4.0 GPA during my grad. I have a bachelor in Physics. Not a native English speaker. I had experience in equity research (as an intern in research dept. for several months) in my home country and currently I am working for a firm doing EB-5 investment. This is not a traditional financial service firm and I want to jump in a mainstream financial services firm such as IB/PE/HF.
I found it is really hard to get a job in those areas however it it getting close to my graduation in June. I cannot even get interviews and I don't know why. Probably lack of experience or Visa sponsorship problem.
I do understand that this industry is highly competitive even for U.S. citizens, but I want to know how a foreigner can stand out and how I can get to a start point in the U.S. to gain some experience.
Thanks.
