Fortune 500 Corp Finance Internship vs MM Sophomore Internship for Junior Year BB/EB?

For context,

I am currently a sophomore at a non-target university in the Midwest. Currently, going through recruiting for Summer 2024 internships and would love the forum's advice on something.

Junior Year Recruiting will be starting soon and I was wondering;

For someone aiming for BB or EB, would an MM internship look better or a fortune 500 Corp fin portfolio management internship or something similar look better on the resume?

Just seeking advice and help and don't mean to cause any controversy.
Looking forward to hear your thoughts!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, both internships can provide valuable experience and skills that can be beneficial for a career in BB or EB. However, there are some differences to consider:

  1. MM Internship: This could provide more relevant experience as you would be working in a similar environment to BB or EB. You would likely gain more exposure to investment banking tasks and processes, which could be beneficial when applying for BB or EB roles.

  2. Fortune 500 Corp Fin Portfolio Management Internship: This could provide a broader range of experience and skills, as you would be exposed to different aspects of finance. This could be beneficial in demonstrating your versatility and adaptability, which are valuable traits in the fast-paced environment of BB or EB.

Ultimately, the choice between the two would depend on your career goals, interests, and the specific opportunities available to you. It's also important to consider the culture and work environment of the companies you're considering, as these can greatly impact your internship experience.

Remember, it's not just about what looks best on a resume, but also about what will provide you with the most valuable experience and skills for your future career. Good luck with your decision!
