Freshman Internship Rescinded

Hey all. I am currently a rising sophomore at a target, and I was supposed to start a remote internship as a product manager intern for a startup on Monday. However, just received an email saying the company placed a hiring freeze due to market volatility and theyre letting me go. I’m upset but kind of figured this would happen (the market + the company was pretty sketchy tbh), so i applied to some more finance-related roles earlier this month. Interviewed with one place so far, but who knows what will happen.

I am trying to land either a sophomore BB internship or tech internship (leaning more towards BB though), and right now I am in a summer class and might possibly get involved in some research, but these two really dont take up much if my time. I am also trying to prep for recruiting. Should I attempt to apply to more finance roles to stand out for sophomore internships? Would any places be hiring rising sophomores at this point (and in the midst of all this market volatility)?
