Freshmen/Sophomore Linkedin Premium Users

Ignore name...current junior who was lucky enough to get offers at some great shops, but have been seeing a large number of freshmen/sophomores using linkedin premium, wasting money for no reason. It's also a bit obnoxious since it gives off hardo culture.

Not sure why people are wasting money, but instead of doing this, you should probably be doing one of three things:
1) Get into the best college that fits you and is strong for whatever you want to pursue

2) Build a passion for whatever it is and truly learn whether that is banking, tech, investing, etc...

3) Network like crazy.

Also have fun and don't get addicted to linkedin...

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's the deal with LinkedIn Premium for freshmen and sophomores: it's often unnecessary at this stage. Instead of spending money on Premium, focus on these three actionable steps:

  1. Maximize Your College Experience: Choose a school that aligns with your career goals and offers strong programs in your field of interest. Your college environment can significantly shape your opportunities.

  2. Develop Genuine Interests: Dive deep into your passions, whether it's banking, tech, or investing. Building expertise and understanding your field will make you stand out more than a Premium badge.

  3. Network Strategically: Use LinkedIn's free features to connect with alumni, industry professionals, and peers. Attend networking events, send thoughtful messages, and build relationships. Networking is about quality, not quantity.

Lastly, don't let LinkedIn consume your life. Balance is key—enjoy your college years while laying the groundwork for your future. Save the Premium subscription for when it truly adds value, like during active job searches or when you need advanced tools.
