Front office at smaller bank or middle office at bigger bank?

Deciding between a structuring IB role at a smaller bank or a modelling/analytics team (i think this is middle office) at a bigger bank.

If I were to go to the bigger bank I would eventually want to change teams into a front office role but this could be years wasted doing something I don't enjoy/the switch is also not guaranteed.

Thoughts?

FO at the smaller firm then lateral.

I've never believed in lateralling within the firm because if you want to do that, you're already at a disadvantage in the eyes of HR.

If what you really wanted was to be in X position then why you applied to Y and made people within the team lose time training you + you made the bank spend twice the time and resources to fill 1 position.
