Full Time IB 2021 Recruiting

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask about recruiting FT for IB for 2021. I am interning with a top ER shop (JPM/MS/Citi/EVR/BAML/Barclays/RBC) this summer (junior summer). If anyone has any advice for how I should do this in terms of should I start networking with IB right now? I am a bit worried about this because of the risk of my bank finding out. Should I focus completely on getting a return offer? How difficult is it to go from ER summer to IB FT? What do people say are the best reasons to make the switch when asked about it? I understand it will be very difficult because of covid. Normally, FT recruiting starts in August is what I’ve heard. Does resume dropping ever work for getting FT interviews? How do people generally “spin” their experiences in ER to IB? Are there any banks I should particularly focus on?

If anyone knows when these applications open and if anyone has made a similar move i.e. ER/S&T/Corp fin summer to IB full time, let me know. Feel free to DM me with any information anyone has or vice verse. Also if someone has gone from ER summer to doing something else like IB/Consulting FT or after lmk. Really appreciate any information you guys have. Thank you!

JPM opened up their 2021 Full Time Apps on their Website.

No idea how many spots will be open as usually Full Time is done to fill analyst classes from those that didn't accept/get offers. With banks trimming down, who knows how many spots will be available. I've been in contact with numerous banks the last couple of weeks and many of them underwent recent layoffs, so I can't imagine their focused on full time 2021 recruiting.

I would expect everything to be virtual and transferring from ER to IB shouldn't be an issue in my opinion, just have a good reason for Why IB. Both are good fields to start your career in imo. Just make sure build a strong network. As long as your smart about it, your bank shouldn't find out. It's never to early to start networking. Good Luck!

Any tips on how I would go about ensuring that my current bank doesn’t know that I applied to this position? I’m in a similar position as OP except going into S&T this summer at a BB (starting in July)

Does anyone know why they posted their app before their summer class has even come in yet? Also, does anyone know how their FT process is? Is it group specific and how many people do they generally take?

Which banks have you spoken to where they have indicated that they have recently fired people? Last I heard was a few months ago like WB, Evercore, and Cantor.

Will update my computer soon and leave Incognito so I will disappear forever. How did I achieve Neanderthal by trolling? Some people are after me so need to close account for safety.
