Funds that Care About GPA Alot

Was curious if there were any funds that particularly cared about GPA?

Have heard some anecdotal stories where certain funds wouldn't hire those with sub-3.9 GPAs...seems like that's a high barrier but curious to hear if anyone has heard anything of the sort.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, certain funds do place a significant emphasis on GPA. Here are some insights:

  • Elite Buyside Shops: These tend to place more emphasis on undergraduate academic achievement. They often look for high GPAs as part of their selection criteria.
  • Mega Funds: For example, funds like Apollo have been known to set high academic standards, sometimes requiring a 3.9+ GPA, Ivy League undergrad, and high standardized test scores (e.g., 2300+ SAT).
  • Headhunters: They often use GPA as a criterion when filtering candidates for prestigious funds. They may look for candidates with a GPA of 3.8+ and other notable academic achievements (e.g., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa).

These funds can afford to be highly selective due to the large number of qualified applicants they receive.
