Furloughed - Where to Start

Well, it happened - furloughed from a corp dev associate role with a marketing tech company. I joined the company after ~2.5 years in MM IB and had been there for 6 months. Flood of mixed emotions to be honest - after all, no one starts there career anticipating these kinds of events. To anyone in the same boat currently, I feel for you.

Seeking any advice regarding where to start. It seems like a furlough is marginally better than being formally laid off, given I am still technically employed with the company so any background check wouldn't show an employment gap. I was told the max duration would be ~90 days, so I am beginning to search for new opportunities now. Does anyone have any advice when reaching out to contacts? I want to be as honest as possible without divulging unnecessarily detailed info that may get me labeled as "damaged goods".

Thanks all
