Getting a Summer Analyst gig w/recruiting experience

Hi all,

While I've been an active reader of these forums for a while, I've somewhat held off posting my own discussion topic, for fear of being torn apart by the wolves that roam these areas.

With that said, I've grown some balls and I would love some (if any) advice.

So I just finished my sophomore year at UMass Amherst with a 3.55 GPA in an International Business major. As far as I know that is not a target school (albeit maybe for some boutique Boston firms), and my GPA is good but not in the same leagues of the UMich, Wharton, Harvard grads that are competing for places at Goldman etc. However I've supplemented by GPA with some internship experience while at school.

I have 6 months of high volume contingency recruitment experience, where I cold called like a dog and had pretty much all of my pay dictated by my leads/placements. I ended up loving the idea of commission and found refuge in the fact that my mind would have a total break from academics while I hunted for money at work. This was a ~15~ hour per week internship that I had at school, where I'd generally come out with $20/hr as a result of the commission I made.

This summer I had the option of interning for a freshly graduated financial analyst at an Ameriprise branch, or interning at a non-profit outside of Boston (MITRE) and making some good $$ over the summer. I chose the latter, and began last week.

With all that said, I would like to know the chances/likelihood of using my recruitment/sales experience to try and get an internship in wealth management or at a reputable management consulting firm here in Boston.

Please let me know what you think my chances are of landing one of the gigs above. Cheers! -G
