Getting Fired as an Analyst?
At what point and for what specific reasons will an IB firm be on the cusp or actually fire a 1st or 2nd year analyst?

Depends on the bank and size. For some it could be they just don't like you. For others you may really have todo something...
A weak analyst will be given bottom bucket bonus.
A struggling analyst will be given very small bonus (5k for instance) as a soft nudge to resign/change job.
A rogue analyst will be kicked out immediately.
EDIT: Reasons may vary, in my experience I have only witnessed intern being kicked out for gross lack of professional conduct. (eg. logging out at 6PM and completely MIA on weekends on multiple occasions, delivering obviously half-assed work, you get it).
This has been the case from my experience.

Analysts who despite their best efforts simply can't live up to what is expected to them. Can't give specific examples as I have never seen them first hand.
