Getting hired in Toronto

Curious if anyone has experience/knowledge on how difficult it is to land a job in Toronto as an American. Looking mainly at buyside and value/credit focused (think hedge funds, pensions, endowments etc.).

Also, if you marry a canadian, how might that change the process/prospects.

Thanks in advance, pm me if you like.

Thank you for reminding me, I need to fill out and submit my dual-citizenship paperwork. Sorry I could offer no advice to your cause.

When a plumber from Hoboken tells you he has a good feeling about a reverse iron condor spread on the Japanese Yen, you really have no choice. If you don’t do it to him, somebody else surely will. -Eddie B.

You can PM me if you have specific questions, but there are very few top-class funds in Toronto beyond the pensions and two or three others. And in general there are disproportionately fewer HFs/PE firms in Toronto than NYC/Chicago/London/Boston/SF.

It will be even tougher as an American because of visa issues. What is your background? And why are you so interested in Toronto? I would not focus on it as a destination for buyside opps unless you have a compellingreason...
