Goldman Background Check

I am awaiting the decision of my background check with GS. I have accepted an offer to be a part of the Research Data Group in SLC. The managers want me to begin ASAP and told me the check should be done in around two weeks. I have now learned that this check could possibly take an extra two weeks. Is this something to be concerned about? Also, if you fail the background check will it state this on HRWorkways? Thank you all for your assistance and feedback.

My background check for the summer took less than a week (including the weekend). Call them to see what's up.

Do you happen to remember the name of the firm doing your background check?

Im not sure if that comment was directed towards myself or Captain Murica, but the firm is Goldman Sachs.

I think he means the actual firm handling the check. GS outsources the background checks to third parties and on occasions some are receptive to being contacted directly. So if there's something you can help with, maybe that might speed up the process.

I see. Is it appropriate to ask Goldman HR what firm is conducting the background check? Also, how are you notified if you do not pass the background check? Thanks for your input.

Yes, I was referring to the third party background check company. Pretty much every firm outsources this and they usually let you know the name of the company doing the check.

FYI, the company that did mine is called HireRight. They do it for a lot of firms on Wall. Oh ya, I should mention that my firm is not Goldman. Maybe GS has its own process.

Thanks everyone for posting. It has helped me think things through more clearly. I will just have to sit back and be patient.
