ok not sure what you're talking about because these groups are being DISBANDED. read the news once in a while. SSG is being dissolved and some of GSIP's top guys are starting their own funds.

People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.

You have no idea what your talking about. SSG is still standing strong at GS and I know this after speaking directly with somebody who knows about the matter. GSPS has been shut down and I believe many of their top guys were acquired by KKR. The reason SSG is okay for now is because it uses the bank's B/S for investments and the financial regulation bill was targeted more at the merchant banking arm of investment banks trying to regulate BB's from investing in other funds. The bill was poorly written and SSG has found loopholes around the bill and is still operating under GS.
