Good middle market / regional banks to work for?

I'm a 2nd yr MBA student at a Big Ten University. It's not a "target school", but it consistently ranks in the top 30 in all of the major rankings.

In doing my job search, I've come to the conclusion that a middle-market bank would probably be a better fit for me than a bulge bracket. One bank that looks pretty good is Raymond James in Florida. What are some other good middle-market banks to look into for a career? I

I'd actually prefer something outside of NY, but I'd go to NY if I had to.

Also, if I was interested in working at a BB's regional office (in Houston or Nashville for instance), would I go through the same application process as the the students applying for NYC office jobs?
