Got an SA offer from a firm that do not sponsor H1B...... I'm an international student
So I got an SA offer from a boutique firm that do not sponsor H1B but I am an international student. The person I got connected with passed along my resume to the people there so I did not apply through their website so I had no idea if they sponsored or not. During interviews, I always say that I am from a foreign country studying in the US but was never asked if I have a green card or not. I know that I can work without sponsorship during the summer using CPT and a year after graduation using OPT but then that's kind of unfair for the firm. Do I accept the offer or should I decline?
Congratulations! I think you should reach out to the people there and I think highly likely that they will sponsor if you were called up. Good luck!
Unless they explicitly said they did not sponsor H1-B I wouldn’t rule it out — regardless I’d just work on OPT and move firms if you need
This happened to a friend of mine. When HR realized their mistake after a month or so, the offer was quickly rescinded. Maybe you get lucky, and they don't catch their mistake.
Did you not have to fill out a formal application at all? Usually HR will make you fill that out even if you've already gotten the offer / didn't apply through website
I would definitely email HR and ask before accepting the offer. Best to find out now instead of immediately before the internship
sounds like JPM...wait till after the internship...in the meantime start recruiting for full time somewhere else just in case
